The Undoing
In Freudian psychology, undoing is a defense mechanism through which a person attempts to negate a threatening thought or action by performing its opposite. It is an act of reversal, an attempt to erase, rewrite, or begin again.
The Undoing is a meditation on the possibility of the blank slate. While Enlightenment philosophy suggests that we arrive at tabula rasa only once, at birth, this exhibition questions whether such a state can ever be reached again. Through acts of shedding, washing away, unraveling, and transformation, these artists imagine what it might mean to release the layers that have come to define us—not to erase the self, but to make space for something new.
The result is a suspended moment, poised between renewal and collapse, between liberation and uncertainty. Through the work of seven artists, The Undoing invites us to exist within that discomfort and discover beauty not despite the unraveling, but because of it.
